Global EMC Testing - Europe

CE Marking is used to certify products within the EU. Testing is under the 2004/108/EC EMC Directive. There are many product specific standards which are used. We are UKAS accredited for all the EU CE Marking standards and can advice on what standards would be most suitable for your product.

Current emissions frequency range goes from 9kHz to 6GHz.

Notified Body

We are a Notified Body under the EMC Directive. We can assess and sign off your Technical Files. A Technical File is a useful route to compliance if you have a wide range of similar products or derivatives of one. It is a lower cost route to certification rather than full testing.

Global EMC Testing - North America

The Federal Communications Commission in USA is responsible for the EMC. It covers radiated and conducted emissions only. There are no immunity requirements. Frequency ranges from 9kHz to 40GHz.

EMC is covered under FCC Part 15 & 18 dependent on the type of device being certified.

Part 15 is for non-intentional transmitters and Part 18 for intentional radiators, such as radio devices.

In 2015 FCC have enfored a position whereby all EMC testing has to be perormed in an accredited lab either via direct accreditation or via a global Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) scheme. Hursley EMC Services are accredited under UKAS via the MRA with USA as a Conformity Assessment Body.
